My name is Chief Mrs. Josephine Nkiruka Okafor, Founder of Uplifting Hope Charity Organization.
My desire to help others began at a young age. I watched my mother share whatever little she had with people in need. She taught me that you do not have to be wealthy to make a difference. Her kindness became an example that has stayed with me throughout my life.
As I grew older, I continued helping people whenever I could, especially children and families facing difficult circumstances. After the passing of my parents, my desire to do more became even stronger.
Following my parents' memorial last year, I organized a Children's Day celebration for children in my community. Seeing their smiles, excitement, and happiness touched my heart deeply. It made me realize how much a simple act of love and support can mean to a child.
That experience inspired me to ask:
“If we can bring joy to children for one day, what can we accomplish if we support them throughout the year?”
That question became the foundation of Uplifting Hope Charity Organization.

I have witnessed children struggle because their families could not afford school fees, food, clothing, books, and other basic needs. Some children leave school because of poverty, while others become vulnerable to gangs, crime, exploitation, substance abuse, and other harmful situations.
Often, these children are not choosing this life. They simply lack support, opportunity, guidance, and someone to believe in them.
I believe we must catch them young.
If we reach children early with education, food, mentorship, healthcare, encouragement, and love, we can help change the direction of their lives.
OUR MISSIONSupporting orphaned, vulnerable, poor, and disadvantaged children and families.
Our mission is to support orphaned, vulnerable, poor, and disadvantaged children and families, especially in Nise Community and surrounding communities in Nigeria.
We provide or seek to provide:
- Educational assistance
- Food and basic necessities
- Clothing and school supplies
- Healthcare support
- Mentorship and life-skills guidance
- Support for vulnerable families and young mothers

We want every child to have the opportunity to stay in school, receive proper guidance, develop confidence, and grow into a responsible and productive adult.

I dream of a community where:
- No child leaves school because of poverty.
- No child goes hungry.
- Every orphan and vulnerable child knows that someone cares.
- Families in need can find meaningful support.
- Young people have positive opportunities and mentorship.
- Every child believes that their future can be better than their present.
What God has placed in my hands, I want to use to touch lives.
I am doing this not because I have everything, but because I am grateful to God Almighty for answering some of the secret prayers I have carried in my heart.
There were prayers I prayed quietly, dreams I shared only with God, and blessings I asked Him to give me so that I could one day be in a position to help others. Today, I see this opportunity as more than a personal achievement. It is a way of showing my gratitude to God for His faithfulness and for allowing me to become a blessing to others.
What God has placed in my hands, I want to use to touch lives.
I cannot do it alone. I invite individuals, families, community leaders, volunteers, organizations, businesses, and donors to join us in giving children the support and opportunities they deserve.
Together, we can turn compassion into action and give children a reason to dream again.
